Punchestown 3rd May

Listed Novice Handicap Chase 2m 4f

Mister Policeman (Paul) has to carry top-weight on his first time in a handicap. He won over 2m 2f at Thurles last time and will like the longer trip here. He jumps well and will like the ground.

Tactical Move (Danny) likes this track and the trip is perfect. He could be well treated for his first run in a handicap.

Feu Du Bresil (Brian Hayes) was runner-up at Perth last week but will find this tough.

Grade 2 Mares Chase 2m 4f

Allegorie De Vassy (Paul) has a lot going for her here. She is suited by the race conditions and the trip and ground. She’s entitled to go close.

Instit (Danny) would prefer further but she is in good form and hopefully will get a share of the prize money.

Champion Hunters Chase 3 miles

Billaway (Patrick) won this race in 2022 but unseated in this race last year. He’s a 12 year old now but retains plenty of ability.

Grade 1 Champion Hurdle 2 miles

Sir Gerhard (Danny) makes a quick reappearance after finishing third to Impaire Et Passe at Sandown last Saturday but this shorter trip will be more to his liking.

State Man (Paul) has been in great form at home since winning the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham. He won this race last year and should take some beating again this year.

Grade 1 Champion Novice Hurdle 2m 4f

Ballyburn (Paul) has done well since winning the Gallaghers Novices Hurdle at Cheltenham and we’ll be very disappointed if he doesn’t win again today.

Jimmy Du Seuil (Sean O’Keeffe) was second to Ballyburn at Cheltenham and then finished fourth at Aintree. We’ll be pleased if he finishes in the first three.

Mirazur West (Mark Walsh) improved to win at Fairyhouse but will need to do so again if he is to beat Ballyburn today.

Predators Gold (Patrick) likes this track but is another who needs to improve if he is to trouble the principals.

Novice Hurdle 2 miles

Anotherway (Paul) is a course and distance winner and is an improving horse. He won’t mind the ground and we’re looking for a big run.

Billericay Dickie (Danny) disappointed us at Ayr last week but he likes it here and the ground will be in his favour.

Tounsivator (Sean O’Keeffe) has a first-time hood which might help him improve enough to get into the placings.

Bumper 2m 3f

Fishery Lane (Patrick) ran well when fifth in the Cheltenham Bumper and has been working well at home since. He will love the extra three furlongs here.
