Ocastle Des Mottes (Paul) goes for the Premier Handicap Hurdle over 2m 4f. We were a little disappointed with his run in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham but we are hoping for a better performance here. He won’t have any problem with the soft ground.
We have two runners in the Grade 1 Novices Hurdle over 2 miles. Mistergif (Paul) ran well in the Supreme at Cheltenham and will like this ground. He might improve enough to be placed here. Mystical Power (Mark Walsh) ran really well when second in the Supreme. He was just outstayed up the hill but should be better suited by this track. A repeat of the Supreme run would put him right in the picture here.
Easy Game (Paul) runs in the very competitive Melling Chase over 2m 4f. This ground won’t be to his liking but hopefully he can get a share of the prize money.
We have three in the Topham Handicap Chase over 2m 5f. Classic Getaway (Patrick) has to give weight away all round and needs to settle better than he has done. If he does, he has a chance. James du Berlais (Paul) has a lot going for him here. He will like the track and trip and will handle the ground. He has a big chance. Aime Desjy (Danny) is improving all the time. He has an each-way shout if he handles these fences.
We have two chances in the Grade 1 Novices Hurdle over 3 miles. Dancing City (Danny) ran very well in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham and a repeat of that run would give him a first class chance here. Readin Tommy Wrong (Paul) was very disappointing when pulling up in the Albert Bartlett. We are hoping he can put that bad run behind him today.
