Galway 30th July

We have two in the 2 mile maiden hurdle. Gamin Original (Paul) hasn’t transferred his homework to the track but if he did he would be more than good enough to win today. Purple Mountain (Patrick) has schooled nicely and has a decent chance if he can transfer his bumper form to hurdles. He will like this ground.

We also run two in the handicap hurdle over 2 miles. Getaway Gorgeous (Jack Foley) was disappointing all winter but eventually came right at Killarney in May. She has an each-way chance today. Ruaille Buaille (Paul) showed her wellbeing at Killarney last time and has every chance in this tight handicap.

We have four runners in the 2m 6f handicap hurdle. Stratum (Paul) won the Queen Alexandra at Royal Ascot last time and will like this trip and ground. We have always thought there will be a big day out over hurdles for him and this could be it. My Sister Sarah (Bryan Cooper) ran well over two miles here on Monday and will be more suited by this trip. French Made (Brian Hayes) is a very decent mare but she has been off for a long while with training difficulties. If she is back to her best she would have every chance but ideally she would prefer softer ground.  Jazzaway (Conor McNamara) has been running well and has a handy weight which gives her a chance.

Grand Bornand (Paul) runs in the 2m 2f beginners chase. He has not gone on over hurdles the way his homework would suggest so we are hoping that fences will bring about some improvement. He jumps well at home and we expecting him to run very well.

We run two in the 2m 6f chase. Annamix (Paul) never got going for Patrick in the Plate on Wednesday but there might not be the same pace on here which will suit him. Koshari (Brian Hayes) ran a cracker in the Plate but just didn’t get up the hill. It could be a tough question for him again today.

We have three in the 2m 6f handicap chase. Adam Short gets a good tune out of Pont Aven. He was disappointing at Killarney last time but this race will suit him better. Harrie (Brian Hayes) jumps well and we will try different tactics with him today. We hope the longer trip will bring some improvement. Sapphire Lady (Paul) won nicely at Punchestown last time and could improve further. She has a nice weight and we are expecting a very good run.

We have two runners in the winners’ bumper. Dani Barcelona (Jody Townend) won on her debut at Clonmel but she will need to improve a lot to win today. Jody is sure to get the best out of her and we will be happy if she finishes in the first three.  Ashroe Diamond (Patrick) was very impressive when winning on her debut at Wexford and the second horse has won since. She’s in good form and we’re very hopeful.
