Fairyhouse 31st March

Rath Gaul Boy (Paul) runs in the 2 mile maiden hurdle. We got the tactics wrong at Leopardstown last time but we hope to see a a much improved horse with different tactics employed today. He’s been in good form at home.

We’re well represented in the in the Grade 1 Mares Novice Hurdle over 2m 4f. A Penny A Hundred will be ridden by Pawel Slozil who doesn’t lack experience in the saddle. She will go on the ground and like the trip. Cuta Des As (Brian Hayes) won a point to point and has form on soft ground. The trip will be no problem and she has an each-way chance. Friends (Richie Deegan) has good summer form but might find this too much on heavy ground. Patrick has elected to ride Fun Fun Fun. She has plenty of ability but the nature of her racing means that Patrick will have to settle her. She won well at Naas last time and that form gives her a good chance here. Iris Emery (Jody McGarvey) won here over 2 miles last month and will appreciate the longer trip today. She will handle the ground. Paul has selected Jade de Grugy who is a course winner here. She was fourth in Mares Novices at Cheltenham but this longer trip will be more to her liking. She has every chance if this race is not coming too soon. Judicieuse Allen (Philip Enright) might find this a step too far on the prevailing ground. Paggane (Donagh Meyler) has taken a long time to learn to jump but after winning at Punchestown last time deserves her chance to get some black type. Pink In The Park (Danny) was third in this race last year but the testing conditions today are a little worry. Spindleberry (Mikey O’Sullivan) won over this course and distance in January and has been working well. She could be good each-way value.

We have four runners in the 2m 4f novice hurdle. Loughglynn (Brian Hayes) would prefer a longer trip but the heavy ground will make it a test of stamina. Anotherway (Paul) won over 2 miles at Punchestown last time and the step up in trip today will be no problem. He will like the ground and hopefully will give Paul a boost in his bid for the jockeys championship. Jody gets on well with Captain Cody who will appreciate the trip and ground. Gold Dancer (Danny) was a little disappointing at Leopardstown this longer trip should be a big help.

We run three in the 2 mile novice hurdle. Mirazur West (Mark Walsh) has the benefit of being a course and distance winner. He was third at Naas last time but with different tactics today we think he will go very close. Tounsivator (Paul) won very well at Naas last month and steps up in class here. If he handles the testing ground he might have a chance. Western Diego (Brian Hayes) won over the course and distance in January and has a chance of getting into the first three.

Figaroc (Paul) has top-weight in the 2 mile novice handicap chase but is a fine big individual who is well able to carry weight. He will like the ground and has his chance.

We have two in the Grade 1 Gold Cup Chase over 2m 4f. Blood Destiny (Paul) likes this tarck and has every chance on ratings. He will handle the ground and trip and he should be a big player here. Tactical Move (Danny) is 10 years of age but still retains plenty of ability and won’t be far away.

We have three newcomers in the valuable Tattersalls George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper. Doctor Steinberg (Jody) is a fine individual by Doctor Dino. He will love the ground and should be involved at the business end. Patrick has picked Kopek Des Bardes who has been pleasing us at home. We are expecting a big run. We are not sure if La Note Verte (Ruth Dudfield) will like the underfoot conditions but she is ready to start off and takes her chance in this valuable contest.
