Fairyhouse 11th January

Mares Maiden Hurdle 2m 2f

Kimi De Mai (Paul) is having her first run for us. She did very well in France winning three AQPS races and has been schooling well at home. This is a hot contest but her homework suggests she is up to it and we’re looking forward to seeing how she gets on.

Handicap Hurdle 3 Miles

King Alexander (Paul) is a nice horse who won three races for Nicky Henderson in England. He has dropped down in the ratings and we like the way he shapes up at home. It won’t be easy with top-weight but he has every chance.

Grade 3 Handicap Chase 2m 1f

Hunters Yarn (Paul) has a stiff task with top-weight but likes this track. He ran okay behind Energumene at Cork last time and will appreciate the drop in class here.

Ha D’or (Brian Hayes) has a long absence to overcome and could find it hard in this calibre of race. He likes the track but is probably best watched with the future in mind.

Beginners Chase 2m 1f

We have a big contingent here as open beginners chase are difficult to find.

Asian Master (Tom Costello) was third at Fairyhouse last time and that run gives him a great chance here.

Lisnagar Fortune (Danny) won his maiden hurdle over two miles so we are sticking to that trip here for his chasing debut. He is bred to be a chaser and jumps well at home. This race will give us an idea where he stands in our novice chase division.

Mistergif (JJ Slevin) is having his first run over fences. He showed a lot of ability when winning his maiden hurdle but his rating suggests he might not be good enough against this opposition. He is a tough ride and sometimes can be his own worst enemy. It will be interesting to see how he handles fences.

Shanbally Kid (Mikey O’Sullivan) needs more practice to improve his jumping. He is best watched today.

Tullyhill (Paul) looks best of ours. His second to Majborough here last last month should make him hard to beat.

Westport Cove (Sean O’Keeffe) was fourth at Tipperary and the form of that race doesn’t look too bad with the winner winning again next time. However, this will still be a tough assignment for him.

Bumper 2 Miles

Runcok (Patrick) ran better than his finishing position would suggest when third at Tramore last time. He was very green and didn’t get going until the final furlong. That run puts him in the picture here.
