We have two runners in the maiden hurdle over 2m 1f. Houlanbatordechais (Danny) hasn’t run for nearly a year but is ready now to start back. However, with his style of racing he might need better ground. Western Diego (Paul) was very keen when he ran disappointingly in a bumper at Punchestown in April. We think different tactics and hurdles will bring about a good bit of improvement. He has won a point to point and he showed lots of stamina when winning a bumper at Naas.
What Path (Paul) runs in the very hot looking 3 mile novice hurdle. We’re not sure how he will handle very testing ground but we’ll find out today.
We run three in the Grade 2 Mares Novice Chase over 2 miles. Hauturiere (Paul) is a very good jumper but might find this trip a little on the short side. The ground mightn’t be good enough for Heia (Brian Hayes) but hopefully she might get some black type. Zenta (Mark Walsh) jumps well and gets a valuable 4yo allowance. She probably brings the best hurdle form which gives her a chance but it is only her first run over fences.
El Fabiolo (Paul) starts his season off in the Hilly Way Chase over 2 miles. He is in good form and we are looking forward to getting him out. He has a grade one penalty which means he has to give weight away all round but he should be well up to the task.
