Minella Beau (Ruby) makes his chasing debut in the beginners chase over 2m 6f. He has won a point to point so his jumping shouldn’t be a problem. He loves this track and the ground will be fine for him. He has a very good chance.
We have four runners in the 2m 2f novice chase. Cadmium’s (Ruby) win in Punchestown in April looks the part here. He would prefer better ground but should handle these conditions. We are expecting a big run. Robin Des Foret (Paul) has to put a poor run at Killarney last time behind him. He has been second here on two occasions so we know he likes the track. This could be an opportunity for Miss Sapphire (Danny) and Screaming Rose (David) to gain some black type.
We also run four in the 2m 4f novice hurdle. We have had this race in mind for Causey Arch (Paul) all summer and, while he has plenty of weight, we feel the trip and the recent rain will play to his strengths. Exchange Rate (Ruby) did two circuits of the track after getting rid of Ruby at the first here on Tuesday and that may tell against him here. Calie Du Mesnil (David) wasn’t impressive when winning at Tipperary but has a nice weight on ground she will like. Sapphire Lady (Danny) is not badly treated at these weights and could run into a place.
We have six in the Galway Hurdle over 2 miles. Sharjah (Patrick) has a tough task with top weight but Patrick knows him well and he will handle the ground. We were all very impressed with Good Thyne Tara at Ballinrobe and Cork and she is Paul’s pick here. Whiskey Sour (Danny) loves Galway and Danny rides this track very well. The combination look sure to give a good account of themselves. Voix Du Reve (Katie O’Farrell) is in good form and has come right in the last few months. His rider’s 5lb claim will be very beneficial. Blazer (Mark Walsh) runs here as he missed out getting into the Plate. He has a nice mark if this trip isn’t too short for him. Max Dynamite (Ruby) has a real racing weight and he has been unlucky in this race in the last two years. It could be his turn today off this nice mark.
Townshend (Colin Keane) runs in the 1m 4f handicap. He ran a great trial for this in Killarney last time and that run gives him a real good chance here. The only negative is his poor draw.
Golden Spread (Patrick) makes his debut in the bumper over 2m 2f. He is a fine big individual and not a typically bred bumper horse. This extended trip might bring out the best in him.
