Punchestown 3rd May

Handicap Chase 3m. 7f. 68yds

Shanbally Kid (Danny) has lots of experience over shorter trips. We have left the blinkers off today as we felt he might be too keen. With his experience and light weight he could be good each-way value.

Grade 1 Mares Champion Hurdle 2m. 4f. 118yds

Gala Marceau (Danny) was second at Fairyhouse last month but this could be coming a little too soon for her.

Jade de Grugy (Paul) looks the pick of ours. She loves the track and will have no problem with the trip. Hopefully she’ll be good enough.

Lot Of Joy (Brian Hayes) is a fresh mare who has good form around here. With a bit of luck she’ll get some valuable black type.

Champion 4YO Hurdle 2miles

Blue Lemons (Danny) will be suited by the drying ground. He won a grade two at Fairyhouse last time and if he can back that up he’ll be a serious contender.

Larzac (Mark Walsh) didn’t look well on the day and was very disappointing in the Triumph at Cheltenham. He looks a lot better now but may not be sharp enough for some of these. However, he is a horse to look forward to next season.

Legionnaire Forez (Danny Gilligan) missed Cheltenham but goes well at home and will be a nice novice next year.

Poniros (Paul) has to be on everyone’s list after winning the Triumph Hurdle and we think this track will suit him even better.

Sony Bill (Sean O’Keeffe) has plenty of experience but has had a long season.

Too Bossy For Us (Harry Cobden) was seventh in the Triumph and Harry really loved him there. He is a horse to watch.

Lumiere Du Large (Kevin Sexton) ran way better than her finishing position would suggest in the Triumph. This easier track will suit and she is a live each-way contender.

Murcia (Rachael Blackmore) needs this ground. It would be great to give Rachael a big winner this week and this could be the one.

Sainte Lucie (Brian Hayes) without doubt has huge ability. She can be her own worst enemy but could win a big one when she learns to settle.

Listed Handicap Hurdle 2m. 4f. 118yds

Jalila Moriviere (Simon Torrens) is having her first run in a handicap. She is improving and is doing everything right at home. She has a big chance.

Hey Sunshine (Paul) was disappointing at Fairyhouse last time but we think she will improve dramatically on that run here. She likes the track and will go on the ground.

Kalix Delabarriere ((Rachael Blackmore) might have needed the run at Fairyhouse last month. His homework is top notch and we’re hoping for a much improved performance today.

Stormbreaker (Sean O’Keeffe) hasn’t been running well and is hard to fancy.

Bumper 2 Miles

Quantum Boy (Patrick) is having his first run for us. He was very impressive when winning a point to point and is good enough to be Closutton’s sole representative here.
