Punchestown 16th February

Rated Novice Chase 2 Miles

Rath Gaul Boy (Brian Hayes) is making his chasing debut but has point to point experience and has been schooling well. He hasn’t run since last April and race fitness might just catch him out.

Western Diego (Sean O’Keeffe) looks the pick of our two and hopefully the drop back in trip will suit.

Beginners Chase 2m 6f

Danny deputises for Paul (suspended) on High Class Hero. He will like the ground and trip and should be good enough to get back to winning ways.

Loughglynn (Sean O’Keeffe) jumped a bit sticky when fifth at Navan last time. While he is a course winner and this trip will suit, he needs to improve a good bit to be involved.

Cuta Des As (Brian Hayes) made a bad mistake at the first at Navan and didn’t really partake afterwards. If he can be forgiven that run he has a big each-way shout here.

Grand National Trial Handicap Chase 3m 3f

MacDermott (Danny) whipped around at the start here last time and without that run under his belt he might this outing. He will like the trip.

Spanish Harlem (Brian Hayes) was disappointing here last time but different tactics today might be seen to advantage. However, realistically he is best watched.

Klarc Kent (Sean O’Keeffe) probably needs an even longer trip on better ground but we need to get runs into our three in preparation for the spring handicaps.

Listed Novice Hurdle 2 Miles

C’est Ta Chance (Danny) was second at Navan last month and has a real good chance here on his present form.

Maiden Hurdle 2m 3f

Dr Eggman (Danny) had a little setback and hasn’t run since last April but he is ready now to do himself justice. His form looks good in the context of this race and hopefully he will prevail.

Last Kingdom (Mark Walsh) disappointed us here last time and is probably best watched for the moment.

Bumper 2 Miles

Gameofinches (Patrick) is a lovely big chasing type who is having his first run for us. We’re very happy with him at home and looking forward to seeing if he can provide Prof Caroline Tisdall with another winner after Final Demand’s grade one victory at the Dublin Racing Festival.
