Icare Desbois (Paul) makes his hurdling debut in the 2 mile maiden hurdle. He won the Tattersalls Sales Bumper at Fairyhouse last year and he has schooled well in preparation for this. He will handle this ground and has every chance of making a perfect start to his hurdling career.
We have two runners in the 2m 3f maiden hurdle. Paul rides Chosen Witness who is having his first run over hurdles. He won a point to point so jumping shouldn’t be a problem. We are expecting him to go very close. Spread Boss Ted (Danny) is also making his hurdling debut but he does have point to point experience. He hasn’t run since Galway last year and might find this tough.
We run two in the Grade 3 Chase over 2 miles. Sir Gerhard (Paul) would prefer a longer trip and needs to improve his jumping if he is to get involved. Dinoblue (Mark Walsh) is well treated by these race conditions and will go on the ground. She has won her last two and has every chance of making it three in a row.
Grangeclare West (Paul) makes his chasing debut in the 2m 4f beginners chase. He has point to point experience and we think fences will bring about huge improvement. He should be a big player here.
We have two runners making their racecourse debuts in the mares bumper. Fleur Au Fusil (Jody) is a nice mare and we will know a lot more about her after today. Shaving (Patrick) is a half-sister to Allaho and is a fine big mare who will jump a fence in time. She has been pleasing us at home and we think she is well up to winning a bumper.
