Leopardstown 28th December

Maiden Hurdle 2m 4f

Kaid D’authie (Mark Walsh) was unlucky when falling at Navan earlier this month but we are expecting him to gain compensation today. He is a big chasing type that we really like and with a bit of luck he should get off the mark over hurdles here.

Kalix Delabarriere (Paul) won a bumper at Ballinrobe and makes his hurdling debut. He jumps well but experience might beat him today. However, we have always thought he is top drawer and is one that can be followed for the rest of the season.

Beginners Chase 2m 5f

Captain Cody (Mikey O’Sullivan) is a nice jumping type but might find this a little out of his reach.  Hopefully, he will stay on and be placed.

Chapeau De Soleil (Sean O’Keeffe) is having his first run over fences but has point to point experience. He hasn’t run since winning a handicap hurdle at Punchestown last May and might be best watched today.

Quai De Bourbon (Paul) is also making his chasing debut. He is a strong staying chaser type and has been schooling well at home. He has won three out of four for us and we are expecting him to add to that tally today.

Savills Grade 1 Hurdle 2m 7f

Asterion Forlonge (Paul) was  second in this race last year but faces a tough assignment today. We will be happy if he can get some good place money.

Savills Grade 1 Chase 3 Miles

Fact To File (Mark Walsh) finished in front of Galopin Des Champs (Paul) when winning the John Durkan over 2m 4f at Punchestown last month. Both horses are in excellent form and today’s longer trip might enable Galopin Des Champs to turn the tables on his stable companion.

Grangeclare West (Mikey O’Sullivan) is a course and distance winner and will like the ground. Hopefully, he will run well.

I Am Maximus (Jody McGarvey) starts his season here on his quest to win a second Grand National. It is difficult to see him winning such a competitive race on his first run back.

Minella Cocooner (Sean O’Keeffe) ran a nice race in the John Durkan but was no match for the principals. He will like this trip but would need a career best to win.

Pertemps Handicap Hurdle 2m 7f

King Alexander (Paul) is ex-English and is having his first run for us. This is his first attempt at this trip and he will have to improve a fair bit to get involved.

Bumper 2 Miles

Soir De Garde (Patrick) was a well beaten second on his debut at Punchestown but it was still a very good run and we are expecting significant improvement today.
