Dark Voyager (Paul) runs in the 3yo maiden hurdle over 2 miles. He was very disappointing last time and needs to put that run behind him if he is to figure here. He will find this difficult on ground that he doesn’t like.
Klassical Dream (Paul) makes his chasing debut in the 2m 1f beginners chase. He has schooled well and we have been happy with him at home. His best hurdling form would be good enough to win this but he could find this tough on his first run since this time last year.
We have two runners in the Grade 1 Chase over 2m 1f. Annamix (David) won well at Fairyhouse and Gowran but this is a step up in class. It is hard to find suitable races for him but hopefully he get a share of the prize money here. Chacon Pour Soi (Paul) finished second in this race year but he hadn’t had a prep run beforehand. He loves this track and has improved a good bit since winning on his seasonal debut at Cork three weeks ago. It will be disappointing if he doesn’t prove good enough today.
We also have two runners in the Grade 1 Novice Hurdle over 2 miles. Appreciate It (Paul) did everything right when winning his maiden hurdle at Cork and the second franked the form when winning easily next time. He has come on a lot at home since and we are expecting a big run here. N’golo (David) was third at Fairyhouse last time but he had no luck in running that day. With different tactics today we think he will show a much improved performance.
We run two in the 2 mile handicap hurdle. Tiger Tap Tap (David) is returning after a break. He has a chance on his best form but would prefer better ground. Hybery (Paul) ran well at Fairyhouse last time and is an improving type. He seems to be adapting to softer ground and has a good each-way chance here.
We run three in the valuable Paddy Power Handicap Chase over 3 miles. Paul has picked Castlebawn West and he looks our best chance. He likes this track and even though he has top weight he could run a big race. Class Conti (Conor McNamara) was running well before falling at the last in this race last year but ideally would prefer better ground. He is probably best watched for later in the season. Saturnas (David) was returning after a long break when pulling up at Navan last time. Like Class Conti, he is best watched for the moment.
Reality Cheque (Patrick) goes for the bumper over 2m 4f. He was second on his first run for us at Fairyhouse last month and that run should have brought him on. We think he will be suited by the extra half a mile today and we are expecting him to go close.
