Makitorix (Paul) goes for the Royal Bond Hurdle over 2 miles. He won a maiden hurdle in great style on his first run for us at the Listowel festival. He lacks experience but will love the ground and has improved since Listowel. It is a hot race and we will be happy if he finishes in the first three.
We run three in the Hattons’ Grace Hurdle over 2m 4f. Cilaos Emery (Patrick) is stepping up from novice company but will be suited by this trip. Nichols Canyon (Paul) is the highest rated and has been working well. However, he will need to be at his best to tackle Apple’s Jade. Augusta Kate (Danny Mullins) is a grade one course and distance winner but her rating doesn’t suggest she can win this. It would be great if she can finish in the first three.
We have four runners in the Grade 1 Handicap Hurdle over 2 miles. Bleu Et Rouge (Barry Geraghty) was not at his best over fences last season so we have decided to go back over hurdles today. He is a grade one winner as a novice and will be competitive off his rating here. Chateau Conti (Danny Mullins) won here last time and that form gives him a chance here. He will improve but dropping back in trip is not ideal. Meri Devie (Paul) was second at Naas last time and will improve from that run. He has an each-way chance in a very competitive race. Timi Roli (Brian Hayes) would prefer to be going left-handed but it is worth taking a chance for such a big prize. He too has an each-way chance off this rating.
We run two in the Drinmore Novice Chase over 2m 4f. Rathvinden (Paul) has been in super form all year and will enjoy the trip and ground here. He’s in great form and must has have a first rate chance. Townshend (Danny Mullins) has the class for a race like this but lacks the experience and it is his first run back.
Imperial Grey (Patrick) makes his debut in the bumper. He is a fine type and he make a lovely chaser in time. We think he is well up to winning a metropolitan bumper.
