1 Feb 2019 Race Previews

We run two in the very hot Juvenile Hurdle over 2 miles. Tiger Tap Tap (Ruby) ran a cracker here behind Sir Erec at Christmas and if he has gained enough experience from that run he should be very competitive again. However, he does have very little racing experience. Lamarckise (Paul) is a nice French mare who is having her first run for us. It is hard to see her being competitive here at this stage of her career.

We have four in the Grade 1 Novice Hurdle over 2 miles. Aramon (Paul) has done nothing wrong this season and is a course and distance winner. Prince D’Aubrelle (David) has lots of ability but lacks experience for a race like this. Elixir D’Ainay (Jody McGarvey) was second at Punchestown a few weeks ago and that run is good enough to justify running here. We will see today how much he has improved. Klassical Dream (Ruby) was very good over the course and distance at Christmas and should improve on that here. If he does, he must have a real good chance.

We have two in the William Fry Handicap Hurdle over 3 miles. Pleasure Dome (Ruby) is only a novice but the slower pace over this trip will give her a chance to jump. Calie Du Mesnil (Paul) will have to leave her last run behind if she is to get involved here. She pulled up last time and hopefully she will gain some confidence today.

We run two in the Irish Gold Cup over 3 miles. Al Boum Phota (Paul) has the rating to be competitive here. It is a big step up from winning at Tramore but we will see how much he can improve today. Bellshill (Ruby) ran very here at Christmas and might have needed that run. If he can improve on that form he will have a top chance.

We also have two in the Leopardstown Handicap Chase over 2m 5f. Cadmium (Paul) has been consistent all season but is at the wrong end of the handicap here. Livelovelaugh (Ruby) has a nice weight and runs over a trip that he likes.

We have two in the mares’ winners’ bumper. Rebel Og (Patrick) won at Down Patrick and then disappointed us at Punchestown. She will have to be back to her best to win today. Botani (Derek O’Connor) is a nice strong mare who is having her first run. We are hoping she might get some black type here.
