We have three runners in the opening novice hurdle over 2 miles. Cool Colonnade (Paul) won well over this trip at Sligo on his first run for us. His half-sister Lagostovegas didn’t like this track but hopefully this fellow will climb the hill better than her. Easy Game (Ruby) won over 2m 4f at Killarney two weeks ago but we don’t think he will have any problem dropping back half a mile here. He jumped well at Killarney and he should handle this ground. Hopefully, he might give Ruby a winner on his first run back after injury. Shoulda Lied (David Mullins) also won last time out and has improved from last season. This is a tougher assignment but he should run well.

We also run three in the featured Amateur Handicap over 2 miles. Chelkar (Richie Deegan) ran a cracker when fourth at Royal Ascot where he finished just behind Stratum who went on to frank the form in no uncertain fashion. He has a lot of weight but he is built to carry it and will have the benefit if his rider’s valuable 5lb claim. He is drawn okay and must have a great chance. Limini (Patrick) has not run for quite a while but we have been looking forward to running her off this mark. On her hurdling form she could be very well treated. She has a nice draw and will handle the ground and the undulating track. Uradel (Aubrey McMahon) doesn’t have a great draw but, with Aubrey’s claim, he has a lovely light weight which gives him a real chance.

Maze Runner (Colin Keane) goes for the 1m 4f handicap. He has to make amends for a very disappointing run at Killarney two weeks ago. However, this a completely different track and he will strip fitter today. We are lucky to have the services of Colin Keane today but it is hard to be confident of our chance after the run in Killarney.

Royal Rendezvous (Patrick) makes his racecourse debut in the bumper. He has won a point to point and has plenty of stamina. He should make a beautiful chaser in time and, after the recent rain, the ground has come right for him. All bumpers here are very competitive but he should give a good account of himself.

We will have updates on our runners every day this week.
