Punchestown 17th January

Asterion Forlonge (Paul) goes for the 2m 4f novice chase. He is on a retrieval mission after falling in the race won by Colreevy at Limerick over Christmas. If he has learned from that fall he could gain compensation today. He will handle the ground and this trip will suit.

We have three with chances in the Grade 2 Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle over 2 miles. Power Of Pause (Bryan Cooper) is a course and distance winner and is improving all the time. He has every chance in an open race. Paul has elected to ride Ganapathi who won a maiden at Cork last November on heavy ground. He should improve a good bit for that run. Echoes In Rain (Danny) didn’t have much jumping to do when winning a maiden at Naas last month but, with her mares’ allowance here, she could be good each-way value.

Frere Tuck (Paul) runs in the 2 mile maiden hurdle. He finished well when fourth over 2m 4f at Navan last month. Any improvement from that run should see him go close here. The drop back in trip today shouldn’t inconvenience him.

Klassy Kay (Paul) goes for the 2m 4f mares handicap hurdle. She was third over 2 miles at Clonmel last time and will be suited by the extra half a mile today. She has a nice light weight but she would prefer better ground than she is likely to find here.
