Asterion Forlonge (Paul) makes his chasing debut in the Beginners Chase over 2m 3f. The trip won’t be a problem to him and we think he’ll handle the ground. He won a point to point so jumping shouldn’t be a problem. This looks like a good opportunity to get off the mark over fences at first time of asking.
We have seven in the 2m 3f Handicap Chase. Rob James claims a valuable seven off Bapaume. He has to carry top weight but will handle trip, track and ground. Paul has elected to ride Tornado Flyer and he looks like our best chance. His first run back is usually his best and we are expecting him to go close. Salsaretta (David) has really improved since going over fences and is a course and distance winner here. The more rain the better for her. Castlebawn West (Sean O’Keeffe) is a good jumper and will like the ground and trip. Voix Des Tiep (Danny) is another who will appreciate the testing conditions and has been going well at home. Pont Aven (Donie McInerney) has a nice light weight and will love the ground. Sam Torrens claims a useful 5lbs off Stones And Roses who jumps well but might need further.
Dark Voyager (Paul) goes for the 2 mile 3yo hurdle. He ran well when second on his hurdling debut at Ballinrobe and we are hoping he will go one better here. With the experience gained at Ballinrobe he should prove a tough nut to crack today.
Gaillard Du Mesnil (Paul) has his first run for us in the 2m 4f Maiden Hurdle. He will love the heavy ground and the trip should be ideal. He has schooled well and with his APQS experience in France he should be very much involved at the business end today.
