Navan 18th December

Houlanbatordechais (Paul) makes his hurdling debut in the 2 mile maiden hurdle. He does some nice work at home but can be very difficult to ride. Hopefully hurdles will bring out the best in him and if Paul gets on well with him he should be thereabouts at the finish.

We run two in the 2m 4f maiden hurdle. Haxo (Danny) gained good experience over hurdles last season but these maidens are very competitive and he might need to go down the country to win one. Madmansgame (Paul) is making his hurdling debut. He has won a point to point and has schooled well at home. He loves this track and could be a nice prospect for the staying division over hurdles. Hopefully he will be there at the business end today.

We also have two runners in the handicap hurdle over 3m 1f. Maze Runner (Paul) has been running well on the flat and we think there is another nice handicap hurdle to be won with him. He is certainly not one to ignore each-way at a price. Belle Metal (Sean Cleary-Farrell) is 3lbs out of the handicap but with her rider’s claim she still has a light weight. Hopefully she might be able to redeem her form here.

Ha D’or (Paul) makes his chasing debut in the novice chase over 2m 4f. He has the ability to win a chase like this but ideally we would prefer to run him over a shorter distance. However, it is difficult to find suitable races for him and hopefully this trip won’t prove to be too far.

Special Cadeau (Patrick) has his first run for us in the listed bumper. He won a 3yo bumper in Huntington last year and does some nice work on occasions at home. He has a good chance here if he reproduces his best homework but if he doesn’t we will go down the hurdling route with him.
