Navan 12th February

Horantzau D’airy (Paul) runs in division one of the 2 mile maiden hurdle. He has been off the track since finishing second on his first run for us at Leopardstown over a year ago. He is in good shape for this return and he will be suited by the drying ground. We are expecting him to go close.

Ho My Lord (Paul) goes for division two. He fell at the second at Leopardstown at Christmas so we didn’t get to find out how good he is on the track. He does things nicely at home and should be very competitive here.

We have two in the listed novice hurdle over 2 miles. Paul has picked Hunters Yarn who won at Naas last time. He will love this trip and the nice ground. Tactical Move (Bryan Cooper) made a brilliant return to the track when winning at Punchestown after a long absence. He might prefer softer ground but we are letting him take his chance.

Saint Sam (Paul) runs in a very hot renewal of the Boyne Hurdle over 2m 5f. He won over 2m 3f at Punchestown last time and we are putting him up in trip here. He needs to adjust his style of racing to be competitive over this trip at this stage of his career.

Glengouly (Paul) goes for theGrade 2 Novice Chase over 3 miles. This is his first time over this trip on the racecourse and we think it will suit. He has every chance but needs to get his confidence back after falling last time.

We have two runners in the bumper. Patrick has chosen The Gunner Yeats who looks a nice type and has been pleasing us at home. We would prefer softer ground for him but we have to take what we’ve got. Rule The Wind (Jody Townend) is a fine horse as his purchase price would suggest. Being by Walk In The Park, this ground could be very beneficial for this fellow. It wouldn’t be unusual for Jody to upset the party!
