Leopardstown 8th March

Grand Bornand (Paul) goes for division one of the 2 mile maiden hurdle. He was a well beaten second in a maiden hurdle at Fairyhouse last month but the winner went on to win a grade 3 novice next time so the form looks solid. Today’s drier ground will be more to his liking and we are expecting a big run.

Elite Charboniere (Paul) runs in division two. He too will benefit from the drying ground and a little improvement from his fourth place at Cork last time should see him in the firing line here.

Eurotiep (Aubrey McMahon) goes for the 2 mile novice hurdle. He won his maiden impressively at Thurles last time and we know he likes it around this track. Aubrey’s claim will be a big help and, while he would prefer the ground a little softer, he should handle this better surface. He has every chance.

Breaken (Danny) runs in the 2m 1f beginners chase. He hasn’t run since falling at Punchestown in December 2019. He is a difficult ride but he schools well for Danny at home. We will be happy if he manages to put in a clear round here.

Prize Fighter (Patrick) makes his debut in the bumper. He is a nice gelding by Ocovango and is fit and ready to start off. It looks like this could be a fairly competitive bumper but hopefully our fellow will be good enough to get involved at the business end.
