Aione (Rachael Blackmore) goes for the ladies maiden hurdle over 2m 4f. He was a good second over this trip at Fairyhouse earlier this month and he may not have to improve much to go one better here. It looks like a nice opportunity.
We have three in the Galmoy Hurdle over 3 miles. Benie Des Dieux (Paul) lacks a recent run but we have been very happy with his work at home. He will love the ground and trip. Killultagh Vic (Danny) will also like the ground and trip but needs to improve if he is to trouble the principals here. Penhill (Robbie Power) will need to improve considerably on his run at Leopardstown over Christmas and could find this tough.
We have six runners in the Thyestes Handicap Chase over 3m 1f. Acapella Bourgeois (Paul) has to shoulder top weight but ran a fine race against Al Boum Photo at Tramore and has a fighting chance here. Chef Des Obeaux (Robbie Power) ran a terrific race in the Paddy Power Chase and these ground conditions and going right-handed will suit him a lot better. Total Recall (Danny) will love the track, ground and trip but could find it tough to be competitive off his current mark. Class Conti (Mikey Fogarty) has yet to hit form and needs to find significant improvement. Livelovelaugh (Rachael Blackmore) has yet to spark at this trip but has good place prospects. Pont Aven (Brian Hayes) fell early in the Paddy Power but has a lovely racing weight and will love the ground.
We run two in the 2 mile beginners chase. Antey (Danny) has some decent runs to his name and his best form would put him firmly in the picture here. Paul has elected to ride Coquin Mans who is coming back in trip today. It’s been a long while since he has hit form but at his best he would have a great chance here.
