Jody Townend’s experience is a big plus for Glengouly in the Ladies Auction Maiden Hurdle over 2m 4f. He was travelling very well when he stumbled and unseated Jack Foley five out on his hurdling debut at Limerick over Christmas. This trip will suit and we are hoping he will get off the mark over hurdles today.
We have two runners in the Galmoy Hurdle over 3 miles. Klassical Dream (Paul) is really well suited by the conditions and sets the standard. The ground and trip are ideal and we are expecting a big run. Mr Adjudicator (Danny) finished a long way behind Klassical Dream at Leopardstown but will come on from that and could be each-way value here.
We have five runners in the Thyestes Handicap Chase over 3m 1f. Brahma Bull (Brian Hayes) will like the trip and ground and hopefully first time cheek pieces will help him concentrate. Paul has elected to ride Franco De Port, which is a good sign. He was running well until he made a bad mistake two out in the Savilles Chase at Leopardstown at Christmas and that run puts him in here with a great chance. Ontheropes (Sean O’Keeffe) was very slowly into stride in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury so we are putting cheek pieces on today to help his concentration. He has a nice racing weight and has every chance of getting into the money. Class Conti (Bryan Cooper) has a good record in this race and has been in good form at home. He is not without a shout but would prefer softer ground. Agusta Gold (Danny) will like this ground but has been very disappointing lately. Maybe first time blinkers and a tongue strap will reignite her enthusiasm. Danny has won on her in the past and hopefully he will get a tune out of her today. Stones And Roses is only second reserve but would have a chance if he gets in. He loves this trip and ground.
Mercurey (Patrick) makes his debut in the bumper. He is a fine acquisition from France and has been doing everything nicely at home. He is an exciting horse to have in the yard and we are looking forward to seeing what he can do on the racetrack.
