Fairyhouse 14th January

Blood Destiny (Paul) goes for the 4yo conditions hurdle over 2 miles. He won a maiden hurdle easily on his first run for us at Cork last month. The second went on to win next time so the form looks solid. We think he has improved nicely and we’re confident of another big run here.

We have two runners in the Dan & Joan Moore Memorial Handicap Chase over 2m 1f. Fan De Blues (Daryl Jacob) jumped terrible when eight over this course and distance last time. He jumped well for Daryl when they won at Ballinrobe last August and if Daryl can get the same tune out of him today they won’t be far away. Mt Leinster (Paul) stayed on well for third in the same race as Fan De Blues over today’s course and distance last month. He likes this track and if he can handle the testing ground he shouldn’t be far away again.

Flame Bearer (Paul) runs in the 2m 1f beginners chase. He was a little disappointing when third over 2m 4f at Naas last time. We are fitting a first-time tongue tie over this shorter trip and hopefully he will belatedly get his season off to a good start.

Westport Cove (Patrick) makes his debut in the bumper. He is a lovely Muhtathir gelding whose owner Cathal Hughes is from Westport. He has been doing things right at home over Christmas and the New Year and we are hoping he will have the measure of these rivals.
