Gentleman De Mee (Mark Walsh) runs in the Grade 1 Novices Chase over 2 miles. He takes on Edwardstone but we think he can put it up to the Arkle winner. Our fellow is improving all the time and won his last two races by wide margins. He will be suited by this track and ground and we are expecting him to go very close.
We will have four runners in the Grand National over 4m 2f. This will be tough for Burrows Saint (Paul) on the back of his form this season. He ran a great race in this last year and maybe Aintree will revitalise him. However, it will be hard for him to reverse form with last year’s winner Minella Times. Class Conti (Sam Twiston-Davies) will be suited by the trip and ground but his recent form leaves a lot to be desired. Hopefully, he might finish in the first ten and bring home some prize money. Augusta Gold (Danny) ideally wants softer ground but should handle this surface. The trip will bring her stamina into play and she could be each-way value at long odds. Brahma Bull (Brian Hayes) will appreciate this trip and ground but needs to step up considerably on recent performances.
Houlanbatordechais (Paul) goes for the Grade 2 Bumper over 2m 1f. He didn’t get a fair crack of the whip in the Cheltenham Bumper where he ran too free. Different tactics today could see him finish in the first three. Rath Gaul Boy (Patrick) won his bumper in good style at Leopardstown and should improve from that run. We’re very happy with him at home and expect him to run a big race here.
