16 May 2018 Race Previews

We have three runners in the opening handicap chase over 2 miles. David rode Asthuria here at the festival and was keen to ride her again today in what is her first run in a handicap. That could be a tip in itself! Montalbano (Danny) and Townshend (Mark Walsh) will like the ground and trip but their recent form wouldn’t inspire confidence.

Robin Des Foret (David) goed for the 2 mile novice chase. He was very good when winning on his chsing debut at Ballinrobe a couple of weeks ago. This race may be coming a little soon but there is nothing suitable coming up in the next few weeks. This ground will suit and, while he would prefer a longer trip, we are hoping he will make it two from two over fences.

Come To Me (David) makes his hurdling debut in the 2 mile maiden hurdle. He jumps well and will like the ground. He won his bumper here and has been working well at home in preparation for this.

Mary Sun (Danny) runs in the mares maiden hurdle over 2 miles. She has been disappointing but this is the first time she gets her ground. However, she has a lot to learn about jumping and might have to wait for an opportunity at a country track before she getting off the mark.

Castle North goes for the bumper. Billy Gleeson, who has been lucky for the owners, rides as Patrick is suspended. We have had this race in mind for some time and he will love this big galloping track. We would prefer softer ground but we are expecting a big run nevertheless.
